If you have earned more than £1000 per year in self employed income in the previous tax year then you need to submit a self-assessment tax return to HMRC. Whether you're a company director, landlord or small boutique business then we can help you make your submission accurately and on time. If you're still not sure if you need to submit a self-assessment then we recommend using HMRC's checker questionnaire: (www.gov.uk)
If you're not already registered for self-assessment with HMRC then you must do this by 5th October in the year following the first tax year you earned self-employment income. The tax year runs from 6th April to the 5th April so if you've earned self-employment income before 5th April 2024 then you need to register by 5th October 2024. Any tax due on this income must be paid by 31st January 2025 but we always recommend finding out your liability as soon as possible so you can budget for it.
We will work with you to determine the correct deductions and allowances you are able to claim for. We do this by finding out about your business, earnings, costs and any other relevant information to allow us to help you maximise your savings and minimise your tax liability.
